Something To Be Proud OF- KISD

Although, I am not a teacher in Katy, I did grow up going to school in Katy and cannot help but be a little proud. Out of over 27,000+ schools in the U.S., 4 of the 5 high schools in Katy ISD were listed in Newsweek's Best High Schools of 2010, placing them in the top 6% of all American high schools. 127 of the 1,600 schools that made the list were from the state of Texas. Take a look at the list. The list shows where schools ranked based on 1.) Ratio of AP tests taken to graduating seniors, 2.) % of students eligible for low income school lunches 3.) Ratio of passed AP tests to total of all seniors.

The four KISD high schools ranked this year are Cinco Ranch High School at No. 478; Seven Lakes High School at No. 689; Taylor High School at No. 982; and Katy High School at No. 1387.

The highest ranked Houston public high school (excluding specialty Vanguard schools) listed at No. 151 is Robert E. Lee, followed by Memoral at No. 220 and Westside at No. 312.

Just a little brief, off-the-wall post for a manic Monday.
