At Least I'm Trendy

OK, so one of my favorite blogs is Things That Inspire, written by another and much more talented Holly. I could spend hours, possibly days reading her posts, exploring her site and all of the other sites she has listed. One of her recent blogs caught my attention and I thought those of you that have bought a home in the last 10 years might appreciate and find it as interesting as I did. Not to take away from her blog, but a brief synopsis of the blog entry, if you will- There always seems to be a certain cluster of homes decorated at a certain point in time that have never been updated. Holly wonders what things people are doing now as they renovate or build homes that will be part of this decade's 'time capsule.' With our current credit issues and crisis, there may be a new generation of time capsules in the making given that people are not gutting and redoing homes as much these days. The New York Times cites 'garage size family rooms and stainless steel appliances' as early 21st century equivalents of the conversation pit and the avocado colored refrigerator. There are many more, and although I thought our recent home renovations were unique and self molded by yours truly, apparently I fall into the capsule in just about every element that she lists. At least the category is considered "trendy", take a look for yourself: Trendy Elements That Scream 2000s
